Magnets are the best method to look for meteorites at Holbrook

This image:
Field modification - original design had this large magnet bolted behind the wheel - this wasn't working, so a field mod moved the magnet to the front. Although this field modification worked as intended, the sand-grain-sized L6 meteorites still would not stay on the magnet ...
Left image:
This magnet had no problem attracting iron artifacts ... .
Right image:
... but this magnet, now shown over an ant hill, had to be very close to the ground, but if it touched the ground, the attracted grains would fall off.
Left image:
Anthill with diskette for scale...most of the (micro) meteorites were found by running a small but powerful magnet just above the surface of these kinds of anthills...
